First of all the smaller lake is now back to catch and release only.
In the larger lake bass fishing is now catch and release only. Also when fishing the larger lake please take out all bluegill and crappie you hook regardless of size. Having said that, please do not toss them on the bank. Bag them in plastic and put them in the dumpster or take them home for fertilizer around your rose bushes or garden!!!
The general information from IDNR Fisheries is that that both lakes are in pretty good shape...though we need to find a way to remove the carp from the larger lake. They are interfering with the spawn of the bass and crappie.
Hopefully by following the guidelines suggested by IDNR we can have the best of both worlds. Trophie bass and crappie in the larger lake and trophie panfish in the smaller lake.
I am trying to setup a work day for the lakes barring the opressive heat getting in the way. Perhaps fall would be better. Main objective would be to clear the trees and brush from the west side of the smaller lake so we can gain access to the entire shoreline.
Any input that the membership has would be greatly appreciated.
